MXLR Fan Holder for Awesomatix A12X

Behind MXLR is Max Mächler – an internationally successful RC racer.
High-quality and exclusive products – engineered in Germany.
Each product has been carefully selected and developed.
No blunt rebranding – just quality that Max himself uses in his everyday racing on the racetracks of the world!

This is the updated version of the prototype that Max Mächler used for his 2023 World Championship victory - adapted to the new requirements of the new Awesomatix A12X.
Using a 30mm fan - powered by 6V from the receiver - was definitely not a disadvantage!

It's not easy to integrate such a large and powerful fan into the A12 - but fans smaller than 30mm were not an option because no loss of performance was to be achieved. At the World Championship itself, Max used a very significantly modified fan to fit it under the body. After numerous tests and further versions, a solution was found that required little to no modifications. The fan was placed further forward and mounted at a steeper angle on the mount. The key to success in getting the airflow where it should go are the small side covers.

The result of using this mount with a 30mm fan at 6.0V is a significantly reduced motor temperature.
Depending on the track layout and grip conditions, this design reduces the temperature by 12-18°C.

The MXLR fan mount is 3D printed from a fairly resilient material that can absorb shocks up to a certain point.
Tests showed no defects during takeoff. However, it remains a 3D printed part with a correspondingly sensitive nature, and the risk of breakage during takeoff remains.

The goal was to design the mount to be as light and strong as possible. Without the fan and screws, the part weighs a mere 2.6g. We recommend using M3x12mm aluminum screws (not included, but available from RCK) in conjunction with a 30mm fan (also not included).
TIP: Don't overtighten the screws. It's just plastic!
The total weight when fully assembled is approximately 12.5g - depending on the fan used.
Longer screws (M3x12mm, not included) are required for mounting on the side carbon plates.
Depending on the battery used and the shims below the plates, additional shims (not included) may be required to adjust the height of the fan mount.
The O-ring OR230 may no longer be needed to secure the battery, as the fan mount itself holds the battery in place.

Depending on the mounting position and the height of the bodyshell used, the fan should be able to run freely and not touch the polycarbonate.
In tests with the most commonly used bodies (AMR, Ponente, M20), it was only necessary to slightly sand the corners of the fan to make room on the M20.
With GT bodies, there shouldn't be any space issues at all.

Note:
Please keep in mind that this product is a 3D printed product. Layers and lines of the material are visible.
MXLR strives for the highest possible quality and therefore uses 3D printers capable of delivering this quality. However, a 3D printed part will always differ in surface finish from a milled or injection-molded part.
